INTRODUCE YOURSELF HEREMeet Your Community Moderator & Weekly Tech Q&A Host
I’m thrilled to introduce Maggie Reno, a talented alumna of the 2023 Quilt Pattern Writing Course, as this year’s Community Moderator!
Maggie brings a wealth of experience and heart to our space. She’s proficient in both Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, and she’ll be active in the community throughout the week—checking in on conversations, assisting with urgent needs, and answering quick questions as they come up.
She’ll also be hosting our weekly Tech Q&A calls, where she’ll walk you through common tech challenges and demonstrate solutions live on Zoom.
A Little About Maggie:
Maggie Reno is the founder of Snug & Stitch, a quilt pattern brand focused on making quilting approachable for all skill levels. Through SnugandStitch.com and her social media platforms, Maggie shares modern quilt patterns, helpful tutorials, and daily tips that foster creativity and confidence in the quilting community.
She uses Adobe Illustrator for design and InDesign for pattern writing, and she’s passionate about empowering beginners while continuing to inspire seasoned quilters alike.
We’re so lucky to have her guiding and supporting you this year — welcome, Maggie!
MEET THE TEACHER ASSISTANTS
Our Teaching Assistants are past students who will be active in the community throughout the course. They help answer questions, contribute to thoughtful conversations, and support both Maggie and me as the course unfolds. You may also see them join our live Q&A calls.
Each TA brings their own unique experience, perspective, and expertise, adding depth, insight, and encouragement to the class and the community as a whole.
Ellene McClay -Â Brave Nouvelle
Ellene designs quilt patterns that inspire and challenge quilters to explore new creative possibilities. Her work begins with original surface design techniques such as ice dyeing, cyanotype photography, and marbling, which she transforms into digital repeat patterns for fabric.
Katie Winn - Traditionally Modern Quilt Co
Katie Winn has been quilting for 23 years and loves sharing her passion for the craft with others. From 2015-2021 she was a professional longarm quilter, and for the last 2 years she has enjoyed writing quilt patterns that help quilters learn and grow with confidence. She has been married for 26 years, is the proud mother of six children, and lives in Phoenix, Arizona, where she enjoys hiking, running, spending time with her kids and of course, quilting.
Nik Knott - Vogonverse
Nik is the quilt pattern designer behind Vogonverse Quilts. She lives in rural Ireland with her husband and their assorted family of cats and dogs. With a background in teaching, Nik is passionate about making quilting accessible to everyone, with a special love for foundation paper piecing. She is known for her clear, easy-to-follow instructions and thoughtfully written patterns that support quilters at every stage. Through Vogonverse Quilts, Nik enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for sewing and inviting others to join her growing creative world as she expands into tech, websites, and new ways of connecting with her community.
